Benedum Foundation Awards $100,000 Grant

Huntington Area Development Council (HADCO) announced today that the Benedum Foundation has awarded them a grant of $100,000 to support and assist startup biotech companies that locate in HADCO’s Biotech Incubator now under construction.

The $100,000 Benedum grant will be used to provide technical assistance in the form of legal, accounting and marketing services for new biotech startup companies that locate in HADCO’s Biotech Incubator. The Incubator is under construction as part of the Forensic Science Center at Marshall University and should be completed in Spring 2009.

Gerald McDonald, President of HADCO, said, “This grant combined with the recent award of $150,000 from Verizon for biotech development will help to increase the pace and quality of startup companies in the region”.
