Huntington, West Virginia - The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) announces that the Huntington Area Development Council (HADCO) has once again been recognized as one of 25 economic development organizations accredited by IEDC as an Accredited Economic Development Organization (AEDO). Originally accredited in May 1998 and again in 2001, the organization was reaccredited by IEDC following three successful years of activity as an AEDO member.

HADCO displays the professionalism, commitment and technical expertise that is deserving of this honor, said IEDC President and CEO, Jeff Finkle.

HADCO is the only economic development group in the State of West Virginia to be accredited.

The AEDO program is a comprehensive peer review process that measures economic development organizations against commonly held standards in the profession. The program consists of two phases: documentation review and an onsite visit. Each phase is designed to evaluate information about the structure, organization, funding, program, and staff of the candidate economic development organization.

Earning the AEDO accreditation tells the community and prospects that the Huntington Area Development Council has attained a measure of excellence assuring that their trust is well-placed and their business is in good hands.

Maintenance of the AEDO status is required every three years and is accomplished through documentation submission and/or onsite visits by a team of the AEDO subcommittee. The International Economic Development Council is the largest membership association serving economic and community development professionals in North America. With over 4,000 members nationwide and abroad, IEDC offers the economic development profession one source for information and professional development, one voice for the profession and one force for advocacy.

HADCO is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization with the mission of creating new jobs and retaining existing business in the Cabell and Wayne County area. Aggressive marketing by HADCO has helped to bring 32 new companies to the area in the past 10 years resulting in over $300 million in new capital investment and 9,000 new jobs.

HADCO maintains a web site with information on available sites and buildings, demographics, major employers, government, etc., at www.hadco.org.
